When? Monday, September 30, 2024 @ 6 pm

Who’s performing? Fr. Rodrigo, Fr. Gonzalo and Manuel are all consecrated men in the community of the Schoenstatt Fathers. They performed together recording the Berit album in 2021 in Santiago, Chile. They’ll perform together again for the first time here in Austin, TX. Ben Gutierrez, a UT alum, will perform prior to the main act.

What can I expect? Join us for an uplifting event that blends the energy of a concert with the serenity of a prayerful experience. Guests are invited to stand or sit as they prefer, with options including chairs, blankets, and foam kneelers provided. Feel free to bring your own lawn chairs or blankets, however you feel more comfortable.

Most songs are the result of prayerful meditation with the Holy Scriptures. Songs will be sung in Spanish and English. Lyrics and translations will be provided in the handouts. Setlist below.

Fr. Gonzalo Villaseca

Music has always helped me to connect with the gospel. The scenes of Jesus’ life came alive as I heard them described in different songs that I sang and prayed throughout my life. I wish we could all have that experience in Encuentro: to let Jesus come out to meet us through music and, for a moment, forget about everything else, and just enjoy his presence among us.

I’ve been writing music for almost 10 years. Music has always played an important role in my life and especially in my prayer. God speaks to me often through music, and emotions I cannot express through words are frequently pressed out through song. My greatest hope is that my music aids someone in finding words for God and gently provides a little direction in their spiritual journey.
